TPRI ADMINISTRATION INFORMATION
As part of the Student Success Initiative to ensure grade-level academic achievement in reading by Grade 3, each student in Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade is required to be given a diagnostic reading inventory by the teacher. The purpose of this assessment is to provide useful information that teachers will use to plan the most appropriate reading instruction for children. While most children become successful readers, some may be at-risk for reading difficulties, including dyslexia. The results of this early reading inventory will ensure that children are not overlooked and receive assistance in learning to read at the earliest possible time. The (TPRI) Texas Primary Reading Inventory is the diagnostic reading inventory that will be used at Ropes Elementary to assist teachers in identifying children at risk for reading difficulties. TPRI will be administered three times per year in first grade to monitor reading progress. A letter will be sent to parents after each administration to report the results and provide feedback about the need for possible reading intervention. The administration schedule will be as follows.
Beginning of Year - 2 weeks after the start of school
Middle of Year - Mid-January
End of Year - Early-Mid May
