| ROPES Folder | Everyday, your child will bring home his/her ROPES folder, which has the citizenship report, homework, and parent notes in it. You can monitor your child's behavior daily by reviewing the citizenship report. On Tuesdays, I will send home the previous week's papers in the "Super Duper Work" section. Please look over your child's papers and keep them at home. Please review the citizenship and then initial or sign in the space provided on the report. The ROPES folder must be brought to class each day! |
| Homework | Almost every Monday, your child will come home with a new spelling list and sentences for dictation. The spelling test is usually on Thursday. A phonics study guide will also be sent home on Monday. The phonics assessment is usually on Friday. Your child will have all week to study. If your child doesn't complete any class work, he/she may have that to do as well for homework. I will also send home the science or social studies text book about every three weeks throughout the year. Your child will have the opportunity to review the chapter we have been studying in class with you before a test. Reading practice each night is encouraged throughout the school year. This is done through library books, the basal reading stories, and phonics readers. |

| Citizenship | Your child has a citizenship report in his/her ROPES folder. This report will show how your child is doing in school. Your child will pull a slip if he/she does not follow our class rules. Each child will receive one freebie per week which can be used for a work habit rule. Freebies can not be used for a behavior rule. Freebies are shown on the report in black ink. On the citizenship report, I have listed the date when you are supposed to have the report signed. This will usually be each Wednesday. |
| Student
of
the Day |
Each day, I will choose a Student of the Day. This child is our leader and helper for the day. |
| Water Bottles | I will furnish each child a water bottle at the beginning of the school year. I will send it home each day to be washed and refilled. If your child loses his/her bottle, you may replace it. My only request is that you label the bottle and lid with your child's name with a permanent marker before sending it to school. |
| Tardies,
Absences, and Dismissals |
Your child is expected to be in our classroom by the time the 8:05 bell rings. If your child is later than 8:05, he/she will need to get a blue slip from the office. If your child is absent from school, please send a note with him/her the next day. School is dismissed at 3:30. If you need to pick up your child before 3:30, you will need to get a white slip from the office. |
